Hi folks, looks like 'hiatus' is going to mean permanent. However I'm keeping PN online in this stripped-down (free) format so it will still be searchable for those looking for info about Petworth. Sorry for the Twitter look, it's the most minimalist template they had ;).
PS, the petworthnews.com URL no longer will take you here, you'll need http://petworthnews.blogs.com/.
Greetings Petworthians. First of all, apologies, I realize Petworth News hasn't been updated as regularly over the last year or so. Partly there's less news, aside from the obvious biggies, like Park Place and Yes market opening. Reader submissions have been down for some time. And bottom line, I just haven't had the time to give PN the attention it needs to keep thriving.
Owner Kera Carpenter was getting a lot of calls, so she asked me to inform people that yes, Domku Bar & Cafe is indeed open today despite the snow. Sounds like a nice place to spend the day...

Time to mark your calenders and reschedule your meetings - we're gonna have a Green Line Professionals meeting this Friday.
This is your chance to get out of the house and join your fellow working-from-home folks and share tips and tricks around balancing work and home life - when there are no physical boundaries to set the separation.
December Happy Afternoon
1-5pm, Domku Restaurant
Of course you don't need to be there all 4 hours, but its sure more fun to work with others than alone.

You may have heard about the events around Sweet Mango last week. If not, you can check them out below [Ed. note - follow the links in the story to backtrack through the timeline of events]. Currently, they are open but without a liquor license, and issue that will be taken up at the next 4C meeting.

Back in July, I spotted the Google Maps Street View car driving the neighborhood, and checking Street View today I noticed they've updated their images based on July's drive by. Check out your block, and see if you, like me, are on Google Street View:

After much thought, I've decided to cancel the arts fair this year as I have not been able to give it the attention it needs to be successful for all the participants. It is also not possible to use Domku as the primary location anymore as Saturday daytime business is simply too hectic to accommodate diners and the arts fair at the same time.

I'd like to try to have the fair in the spring (possibly around Mothers Day) if a suitable alternative location can be found. It's a great and fun annual event for Petworth so I will do what I can to make sure it continues to be. Suggestions and assistance always appreciated.

For the fourth year in a row, the Celebrate Petworth Halloween block party on Taylor Street was a great success. Big thanks to Michelle Escumbise for leading the organizing, and to all the neighbors who helped out.
