[from Jeff Green]
I am a native Washingtonian, who spent most of his childhood until the age of 12 in Petworth, before moving to Michigan Park in NE DC and then on to Bowie, MD. I am an Information Technology (IT) professional who works with Fortune 500 companies and the Government on a variety of technology issue and solutions.
Four years ago when deciding to return to DC, I chose Petworth as the place to settle based on my childhood memories and its location. Since purchasing and renovating my home in Petworth, I have taken a greater interest in the immediate Petworth community after seeing issues go unaddressed and/or neglected.
After some thought and determining that I had both the time and energy to devote to these issues, I have decided to run for Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for Single Member District (SMD) 4C08.
Please review this PDF that outlines what my objectives and priorities will be as your ANC representative.
On November 4, 2008, VOTE Jeff Green for ANC 4C08.
Agreed, I am very sorry Jeff didn't win this election. Many of us in 4C08 would like new representation. I feel that if Mr Green had put his name out there a bit earlier and gotten a little more visibility/ publicity going for his campaign, he could have easily won this seat. As it went, I never heard of him until this post a mere 2 days before the election, I can imagine that many of the residents in this area never even knew of him before going to the polls.

I found the preliminary election results for the ANC vote--unfortunately it looks like Jeff did not win.
Here's what's posted on the DC BOEE website:
Timothy Jones - 383 votes - 58%
Jeff Green - 260 votes - 39%
Write in - 16 votes
Jeff, I'm so disappointed that you didn't win, but I really appreciate you stepping up to the plate. Thanks!!

I admire anyone who runs for office and then those who win and serve. It's always a commitment and one to be taken seriously. We do take an oath of office - even for the ANC.
For any of us who do not get re-elected or not get elected, there are many invaluable roles we all can have in our neighborhoods. Being a commissioner is just one role.
There's always more work to be done by all of us, and we are all very much needed in all our neighborhoods.
Again, my thanks to everyone who is running.
And, hey, some of my best friends (just about almost everyone I know) never run for anything but the bathroom. That's cool, too.
May your vote-casting be joyous.
Joe

Jeff, you have my vote as well! Do you have any yard signs available or an email address where you can be contacted?
