This is an exciting time for our local parks. Our efforts to improve Hamilton and Upshur Parks have been met with great enthusiasm by the Department of Parks and Recreation and by Councilmember Bowser. The article references 75K for planning at Upshur Park which the Councilmember secured for FY '08. But just last week the City Council approved the 2009 budget which includes more than $2 million for capital improvements to Ward 4 parks: Funds were designated to begin to rebuild and renovate Raymond Recreation Center and also for Fort Stevens, Upshur and Hamilton Recreation Centers. This is indeed exciting news.
