[from Doug Belling]
I'm wondering if other Petworth folks have recommendations or comments on moving companies and portable storage container services to assist with moves/renovations.
Any companies people have used and would recommend?
Gulliver's -- very good! especially Greg and Lawrence.
I was advised not to use PODS (the wood ones) because you can only have then for 7 days. And the big metal crates can heat up and thus warp the veneer off your furniture, or get moisture and mold onto upholstered fabric.

I've used BoxCart and I was pleased. They were pleasant and cooperative.
I have used Matt Wixon and his buddies to move my belongings in and out of my house. They are an interesting bunch who work at Capitol Hill Books at Eastern Market and do moving on the side.
His number is 703-300-2685.

PODS all the way, fast, easy, wonderful, on your own time... Affordable too. I used them when renovating my business and they were well received and brought much attention due to the popularity.

I can't recommend Big Green Moving enough. I used them only for moving services, not storage. But they were fast, polite, went the extra mile (they re-assembled my bed after moving the pieces in), and came in under their estimate. Plus they write moving haiku. Seriously!
