ADVISORY NEIGHBORHOOD COMMISSION 4C met last Tuesday evening, November 13th, at 801 Shepherd Street NW in the community room of the newly named Patrol Service Bureau (formerly the ROC North).
Highlights:
Shanel Anthony, in presenting the Treasurer's Report, noted that the Commission has a total of $135,455.20 in savings and checking accounts.
Timothy Cox, Chief Operating Officer, Armed Forces Retirement Home, provided information pertaining to the Draft Master Plan, 2007 version, for development of the Home. Planned development includes the development of office space, apartments, condominiums, shops and a hotel in the southeast corner near North Capitol and Irving Streets. The Home also plans to create a twenty-to-twenty-five acre public park with bike and walking paths accessible from Irving Street NW. Construction vehicles will enter and exit the site from Irving Street NW gates and North Capitol Street NW. There are plans for possible further development at a much later date in the area near the driving range parallel to Park Place NW. For more information about plans, timelines and process, go to: http://www.afrhdevelopment.com.
ANC 4C voted to support the permit application submitted to the Alcoholic Beverages Regulation Administration of the J & B Food Market (convenience store), 233 Upshur Street NW, allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages during the extended hour the Market intends to operate. The owners plan to extend the hours of operation of the store to a 10:00pm closing time. The ANC received no neighborhood opposition to the proposed changes.
By a vote of 7-1, with Commissioner Jones opposing, the ANC voted to approve the grant application submitted by the 14th Street Business Association for $925 for holiday decorations along 14th Street NW between Webster and Decatur Streets NW.
The ANC voted unanimously to support the grant application for $1,425 submitted by the Pearl & Ivy Educational Foundation (Xi Omege Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Society) to purchase books and craft supplies for the benefit of children at the Spring Road Shelter. The books and craft supplies will be provided to the children at the Shelter's Christmas Party.
The ANC voted to support the petitions of residents of the 300 block of Allison Street NW and the 100-300 blocks of Webster Street NW calling for the DC Department of Transportation (DDOT) to consider the installation of speed bumps for traffic-calming purposes.

Does anybody know the current status of the lot at 3910 Georgia Ave.? I imagine that if it was to be finished sometime in 2008 as originally planned construction would have started by now, yes? Is Jair Lynch still planning to build?
