I work at a non-profit organization that supports small, disadvantaged businesses in DC. I wanted to share with you that one of our clients has just opened up a pizzeria on Georgia Ave and Decatur. It is called Moroni & Brothers and serves delicious pizza prepared in a wood-fired oven along with Latin American fare. The restaurant is run by couple Denis and Reyna Velasquez, who have been managing Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle and Georgetown for the past 15 years. The pizza is delicious!
Their website is www.moroniandbrothers.com.
I recently moved to the neighborhood and was excited to learn about Moroni & Brothers. Went there last night and the pizza indeed is delicious - great thin crust, fresh ingredients. Too bad the place was practically empty -- we need more support for great local business ventures like this one!

We picked up a pepperoni pie last night and it was cooked perfectly. Has anyone tried the Salvadoran dishes? We're trying to get out some buzz to friends and neighbors. I would love to see them succeed-- they are a great addition to the neighborhood.

I've been there twice now for carryout and I LOVE the place. Seriously, both pizzas were so good. I'm not a connoisseur, but I could tell the ingredients were quality. Glad to see other people like them too!

I ordered take out there for the first time last night - two pizzas - a marinara and the one with sausage and japalenos. Both were excellent! And the folks working there were very friendly. We'll definitely get pizza there again.

I went to Moroni&Bros with friends last night for the first time. We ordered the first pizza on the menu, the Caprichosa. It was among the most delicious I've ever had. They clearly choose fresh everything for ingredients--something our host confirmed. And I think I've found my favorite source of tamales in the city (I'm a discerning connoisseur).
Along with a plan for a liquor permit, I do think the decor in the place is still developing. Both are understandable for a restaurant just 4 weeks open. I might suggest any fine artists interested in a display arrangement might drop in for some mutually beneficial negotiation over top rate italian, mexican, or salvadoran cuisine. That's my $0.02 :)

Went there last night for a pizza and a couple of salads. One word, "delicious"! Pizza was cooked perfectly, crust was tasty, great sauce, very fresh toppings, and the service was very friendly. It was great, even after being in New Haven, CT for the weekend and sampling the tasty pizza there. We highly recommend it!

Went to Moroni's yesterday with my husband. Great Pizza! Don't go there for a romantic dinner, the atmosphere is not that "restaurantish" but if you're hungry and want a delicious pizza, this is a great place to go. And they do take out as well. Apart from Pizza, they also serve breakfast, lunch, Mexican and Salvadoran dishes.

I got pizza last night at Moroni & Brothers. Somehow I missed before that the owners are longtime employees at Pizzeria Paradiso, but I talked to them while we were waiting for our pizza. It was really just about perfect pizza & similar to Pizzeria Paradiso's. And i have happy news: they are going to start DELIVERING SOON!

My wife and I stopped by Saturday, 8/4. We had the shrimp dish. It was delicious!! We're eager to try everything on the menu. The service was fast and courteous. Moroni and Brother's Pizza Restaurant serves more than just pizza. We encourage everyone to stop by!

I've visited Red Rocks twice and Moroni Brothers once. Both with the same friend. He and I concur, Moroni Brothers is far superior. The pizza is tastier and the service better.

Agree completely. Stopped by last night. Pizza was excellent, even after driving home to CH. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere, eh, but not important for takeaway. I want RR to be better, if only because it is around the corner from me, but M&B might continue to be worth the drive!

Just tried them out. The pizza is incredible - perfect crust, lots of toppings, made right in front of you by Reyna. And Denis seems like a really nice guy. The interior is very clean if sort of plain, but they just opened...
Do I hear 'pizza war' in the hood??? To me, M&B pizza soundly beat Red Rocks on first impressions. Though RR certainly wins by a mile on atmosphere and aesthetics.

i've been there and the pizza is really good. i would say it's better than red rocks.

Oh yeah, that what I am talking about! So close to my house. Oh please Lord if only they could deliver (so important when you got a baby at home).

This is so very exciting. Something within hopping distance from me!! I will definitely be there to check it out.

Can't wait to try! If the pizza is anything like Paradiso's, I am in pizza heaven between Red Rocks and this one! :)
