[from Joseph Martin, ANC 4C Chair]
ANC 4C MONTHLY MEETING
Tuesday 8/14, 6:30pm-8:45pm
(second Tuesday of the month)
ROC NORTH, 801 Shepherd Street NW
Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C's August agenda will be relatively short but we will be hosting one of the more important figures in the DC government. In new business we will have Mr. Nicholas Majett, deputy director for inspections and compliance, with the DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
Mr. Majett will be talking about vacant and nuisance property issues and other aspects of what DCRA does. If you have questions about home building permits and possible illegal construction in your neighborhood, this would be a good opportunity to bring your questions to Deputy Director Majett. The nuisance property issue comes into play with regard to what we call "drug houses." Mr. Majett should be able to speak about how the nuisance property law can be used to deal with this issue in conjunction with efforts by the Metropolitan Police, the DC Office of the Attorney General and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Given the timing for the first portion of the agenda, Mr. Majett will probably speak sometime after 7:00pm.
Unfortunately, I can't make it this evening. Could someone post a summary of what he says? There is a vacant property a few doors down from my house being used as a drug house, and my many, many calls to the police officer in charge of my PSA don't seem to be helping.
