[from Kevin Morton]
To whomever is keeping Grant Circle looking so tidy this summer, I just want to say thank you! From what I can tell, you are out there every day and it really shows.
What's not looking so good are the newly planted trees in the neighborhood. Please water a tree today.
DC 1974, Where you around when they planted all the trees on North Capital?
They planted them in the spring and did not water them all summer. So now they are gone.
When trees are planted they DC Gov expects residents to water and care for them. I think that is fine when it is a tree directly in front of someones house, but it is much more difficult to drag a hose across grant.

I think that the ANSWER kids should water the trees when they come back to Grant Circle to take down all of the posters. The posters, by the way, were easily removed this morning when they were wet.

Why doesn't the city water those trees? It's great that people are taking initiative, but what happened to plans for better park management? I thought the city was working on something with the National Park Service and to address pocket parks, triangle parks and the circles. We keep planting more trees, but not taking care of the ones that we have. Seems like a metaphor for something...

Ooh, I'd love to get some of those bags as well! We have four young trees on my block that are not doing well (and two that have already died, I'm afraid)
Susan, I sent you an e-mail!

Sure, if you're interested in getting a tree bag to keep a tree watered near your house, send me an email at [email protected] and I should be able to get one for you.

I remember meeting somone named Susan at an ANC4 meeting and I'd like to get in touch with her regarding tree bags on New Hampshire. I believe she had some extra ones from a local event - does anyone know how to get in touch with her?
