[from Terra Weirich]
FYI, Linde Development bought the former Eckington Lofts Parcel in the 3300 block of Georgia Ave (empty land in front of the Lamont Street Lofts) and will be developing condos there. I’m not sure about retail. In addition, there are two storefronts adjacent to that were retiled this past weekend. It looks like it could be a pizza parlor or something? Can anyone confirm what’s going on there?
Actually, it's a Trinidadian restaurant named Rita's (Mike and Ritas). It's been there since the 80's and shows no sign of slowing down. The food is incredibly tasty.

The fence now has a financing by Georgetown Bank sign hung. Something may be moving forward.

According to the DC Real Property Sales Database, it appears that it was purchased by GEORGIA AVE DEVELOPMENT, LLC on Dec 19, 2006. This LLC shares the same address as Lindie Development. Permits were approved, for the initial owner NDC, as of 2/10/2006.
The standing building to the right (north) of this property now has a nice tile face put up on the outside. I'm not sure if these projects are connected.

I poked my head into the new-tiled storefronts today, and the one on the right is already open. It's a carryout food place - mainly a Jamaican or caribbean menu - jerk chicken and curries, etc. The food's already prepared and served cafeteria-style over the counter, not from behind bullet-proof glass. It smelled good, but I didn't get anything.
I'm not sure what's happening with the other one.
