[from Kera Carpenter]
New owners have taken over the space formerly occupied by Pam's [across from Domku]. Madalena, the new owner, said she is opening an Ethiopian carry-out. They don't have a target opening date yet, but they were out there recently taking down the old Pam's lettering. I know people will complain about another carry-out opening in the area, but the new addition will be great for the diversity of cuisines available here.
awesome news. I get ethiopian a few times a month from Dukem. Glad to hear we'll have one close by.

One word: pho.
You can keep ya darn bakeries and coffee shops, I'd sell my moms concrete bunnies for a good pho shop.

I'm all for a different types of carry-out. Hopefully, this Ethiopian food is good so I will not have to go over to U ST. It would be great to see a Japanese, or Thai carry-out too. Nobody will really complain as long as there is variety.

Sounds great to me...I noticed the change in lettering the other day and wondered what was on the way. I do wish they'd consider doing a little more to the outside to make it look more attractive and inviting, though.

Great that a new restaurant/carry out is coming to the neighborhood. BTW, why would people complain about a carry-out? On the contrary. I just call ahead and have my order ready on my way home. Honestly, Ethiopian food has been something I've steered clear of. Now, if it's cheap and good, I might make it a favorite.

I am happy to hear this, too (as a vegetarian who doesn't eat mushrooms, my choices are limited around here and often the city in general)! If their food is half as good as Etete, it will be awesome!

I'm thrilled to hear about Ethiopian food coming to Upshur Street! There several places like this in Shaw (along 9th St) and friends of mine that live nearby like them a lot.
