LastCall is a new (beta) service that lets you receive info such as metro train times, weather, movies, and restaurant reservations via text message. The number is 202-299-7949. For example, SMS the word weather to that number, you'll get the forecast as a reply message. Or metro petworth to get the upcoming train times in either direction. Music to get tonight's concert listings etc.
The only charge is your cellphone provider's cost per text message (in some cases, like concerts, it will take more than one return SMS). Here's the recent DCist posting about it.
