[from Joe Martin]
4C08 Commissioner Timothy Jones will be hosting a public meeting with Matt Morrin of the National Capital Revitalization Corporation (NCRC) to discuss the Request For Proposal meeting for a parcel of land on the 3800 block of Georgia Avenue NW, the east side, next to the Latney's Funeral Home (across the street from the Petworth Safeway).
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 15th at 7:00pm at the ROC North in the community room.
The meeting is primarily for Timothy Jones' constituents, one of his routine Single Member District meetings. While the proposed development site is in SMD 4C08, many area residents beyond those borders are obviously interested in development projects on Georgia Avenue. And since the meeting is open to the public, feel free to come and share your views.
The parcel of land is relatively small. This is the first stage in discussing putting the parcel up for development proposals.
ANC 4C is being asked to support the National Capital Revitalization Corporation's request for proposals in the coming months.

The parcel of land, next to Latney's Funeral Home, is small. Given that, it will be very limited in size compared to other proposals slated for Georgia Avenue nearby.
About 12 people attended the meeting. There was a discussion about the array of businesses or services people would like to see. As happens with any discussion about development, neighbors discussed parking concerns.
Representatives of NCRC spoke about their wanting to work with new and smaller DC development companies through a still-developing "small developer incubation program."

Once again I had to work last night and was unable to attend the ANC4C08 meeting. Did anybody attend who could give me a synopsis of what happened? Did we learn anything new about this project from NCRC?
