Councilmember Adrian Fenty (D-Ward 4) joined Councilmember Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) in applauding the Council's action today in passing $4 million in funding for four economic development projects on Georgia Avenue in Wards 4 and 1.
The projects, funded through the District's Great Streets Initiative, include a sit-down restaurant coming to Georgia and Missouri Avenues, a neighborhood retail and residential project planned for Georgia Avenue and Piney Branch Road, a redevelopment project at Georgia Avenue and Lamont Street, and a mixed-use development coming to Georgia Avenue and Otis Place.
"This funding will help our progress on Georgia Avenue," said Graham. "We welcome this support." Councilmember Fenty stated, "These projects approved for funding today continue the revitalization of Georgia Avenue. They are a part of the dramatic and exciting rebirth of the avenue for retail, dining, and housing, including affordable housing."
Fenty and Graham led the support for these projects through the Council during today's Fiscal Year 2007 budget consideration.
So do we have any information as to what KIND of project on Lamont/GA?
