[from Dan Searing]
Thanks to everyone who helped make our first three months so successful and so much fun. Please come and check out our back patio, located off of the Whiskey Bar in the basement (down the stairs past the main bar). It's open seven days a week starting at 5pm, weather permitting. Closing time on the patio will be determined by weather and business so if it's after 10pm you might want to call ahead at 202-722-7669. We'll be adding some decor and lighting in the coming weeks but it's already open so come on down and enjoy the spring weather. We're still hard at work on brunch so watch this space for further details soon.

Gee, a 45-minute wait? Wow - that's a long time. I go there pretty frequently and never had to wait that long! At the same time, given that it often takes that long to even get a seat at some much-more-expensive downtown restaurants, I'm still not sure what the problem is. I guess I have a different attitude about restaurants that aren't fast food joints -- I don't think I've ever gone there on my way to someplace else, so a wait just isn't a big deal to me. But, I realize that's a matter of personal taste...

Chris, I have to disagree with you on what you term the irrelevance of the Domku wait. I agree that the place offers a great laid-back and chill environment, but the slow service for foods item has led myself and many other neighbors to cross it off the list for dinner and only go for drinks. Such a wait, often 45 minutes during a normal experience, would be easier to stomach if the food weren't so pricey or if the portions were larger. Nonetheless, I'm still glad Domku's in Petworth and my husband and I continue to recommend it to newcomers--if only for cocktails.

Domku is reviewed in today's DCist, and somebody made a negative comment about the service there, which I personally think is totally irrelevant to the atmosphere of the place. I mean, it's so laid-back, who cares about that kind of thing? In any case, if you want to share your comments, here's the link: http://www.dcist.com/archives/2006/05/02/loosen_your_bor_1.php

Can't wait for that brunch. I know a whole Sunday church congregation that will appear on your doorstep when you start. I am tired of leaving my neighborhood to eat out.
