Garden District in DC is looking for a second location. The owner is considering Petworth and H Street NE. What can we do to bring him here?
I think if the owner were to just take a walk through the neighborhood they would see there is huge market of new people moving into old houses to fix them up inside and out.
In addition to new residents, I have four or five older neighbors that would absolutely love to have a local garden store.
BTW, if any one knows a landscape architect that they would recommend I would love to hear it.

Suggesting locations is a good idea. It might also be helpful to put Mr. Carmack in touch w/ some of our other local business owners (if he's not already talking with them) who are new to the area -- Temperance Hall, Domku, etc. If they can share their good experiences, perhaps that might help convince him.

One way would definitely be to contact the owner and let him know how much the community would like to see them locate here. Another (even more effective) way, would be to sugguest some possible sites for them. The H St. listserv (http://frozentropics.blogspot.com/2006/04/wbj-garden-district-owner-seeks-2nd.html#comments) has begun a neighborhood dialogue and is already sending the owner location suggestions. I think someone should do the same. A little friendly competition between us and H st. can't hurt.

I emailed the owner, Joe Carmack, at [email protected] encouraging him to locate on Georgia Avenue. I've been to Garden District numerous times and would love a similar store in the neighborhood. If people have other ideas about how to attract Garden District to Georgia Avenue, I would love to hear your suggestions.
