[from Adam Wasch]
The periodic proliferation of illegal advertisements in our neighborhood - most often signs offering to buy homes - is unfortunate and, well, plain ugly. It gives the appearance of a fire sale and, again, is prohibited by municipal code (24 DCMR Section 108).
One frequent offender is Reline Home Solutions (202-531-2955), whose number is advertised by those black and yellow signs you may be already familiar with. In addition to taking them down myself (they keep placing them higher and higher), I've placed several calls to complain. Naturally, they screen their calls and I have yet to receive a reply. I've even been polite about it!
May I suggest a group effort? If enough people call to complain, they may stop posting their signs illegally or at least reply in some fashion. Naturally, they could claim their business is not responsible, per se, and that the signs are posted independently, but I hope if enough people call this evasion tactic wouldn't hold up. Obviously, a business relationship must exist between whomever posts the signs and the company being advertised. Any help from the city would be appreciated, too.
