[from Joe Martin]
A neighbor wrote asking if I knew anything about the status of the Donatelli and Klein development project. That's the large condo and retail building slated to go up over the Georgia Avenue/Petworth Metro station. The neighbor feared the developers were getting cold feet.
Not so.
I got an unsolicited call this week from Larry Clark of Donatelli and Klein who wanted me to know that they'd turned a major corner with WMATA, the Metro. In short, the Metro is very, very and understandably concerned with ensuring that no damage is done to the subway station during and after construction. The lawyers and engineers handling the details have been going over everything with a fine tooth comb, as they should.
The process takes considerable work and a lot of people have to review and sign-off on every single detail. Hence, the delay. Larry wanted me to know that he's looking forward to calling me back to tell me about the groundbreaking. I know many of us are looking forward to that day. It will come.
