[from J. Nicholas Tolson]
Some of you may remember that a few months ago I proposed consolidating the (at least) four different Petworth lists/groups at Yahoo, and only using the existing and simply named "Petworth" group. Since then I have noticed that on two of these lists, Petworth-Cares and petworth_dc, the email addresses for the owners have gone inactive. I take this to mean they have abandoned these lists.
Therefore, I call on everyone to unsubscribe (or at least stop posting to) these two Yahoo lists:
Petworth-Cares
petworth_dc
After I post this message to the above groups, I will unsubscribe myself. This will start the consolidation process - at least in my own home. :-) I have also emailed the owner of the north-petworth list, and requested that he help us in this consolidation effort by disabling the ability to post to his list and posting a message that all further emails be sent to the main "Petworth" group. I hope he responds. If he doesn't, I'll simply call on all of you to unsubscribe or just stop posting to that list as well to finish the job.
Then, we'll all have one simple list to post to, check, and tell people about. Won't that be a great day?!
So there's no confusion, here's the URL for the one group I think we should consolidate under:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Petworth/
Thanks for doing this. I think its an excellent idea and its time has come. The cross-posts were out of control. I've unsubscribed myself to Petworth-Cares and petworth_dc and will soon remove them from PetworthDC.net.

I think it's a great idea, thanks for the initiative Nicholas. I've already unsubscribed myself to Petworth-Cares and petworth_dc. We'll see about north-petworth, they might make a case for continuing. Personally I hope they join this effort too. There are certainly plenty of special interest listservs now, like 4D-Neighbors for crime and police issues, the AFRH Development group, and the 4C09 and 4C10 lists. We really don't need four redundant Petworth lists on top of that.
