At last week's ANC 4C meeting, the Neighborhood Development Company presented their plans for a residential/retail project at the NW corner of Georgia and Taylor. All 72 units (one and two BR's) would be rental and priced for moderate income, made possible by city subsidies. For the retail space on the street level, they mentioned negotiations with an organic grocery store. A spokesman for NDC told me they've already passed some of the more difficult city agency hurdles and are looking for ANC approval. A hearing on February 6th will provide an opportunity for public comment. If things progress without major obstacles, NDC is looking toward a summer '06 groundbreaking.

Not a very good looking building. The big sign with the address of the building isn't nearly as graceful as the neon sign at the Ellington building on U Street NW.

Has anyone begun moving into this company's development on Lamont and Georgia, the Lamont Lofts?
