FOR THE RECORD, I AM PROVIDING A COPY OF THIS EMAIL LETTER I SENT LAST EVENING TO MR. STEVEN McMANUS, CFO, ARMED FORCES RETIREMENT HOME. Mr. McManus chaired yesterday's meeting. His email:
[email protected]
Dear Mr. McManus:
For the record, I want it noted that Timothy Jones has
not been and is not authorized to represent Advisory
Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 4C on the Armed Forces
Retirement Home Development (AFRH) Planning Committee.
I ask that the reference to ANC 4C be stricken from
the list of Planning Committee Members.
Commissioner Jones, as an elected commissioner, is
free to represent his own Single Member District 4C08.
As I stated at today's meeting, Commissioner Joseph
Henson (4C10) represents the largest section of the
area within the jurisdiction of ANC 4C abutting the
Armed Forces Retirement Home. If the AFRH itself were
to select an ANC 4C commissioner whose district would
be most directly affected, that person would be
Commissioner Henson.
At the next ANC 4C meeting, scheduled for November 8,
2005, I will ask for a vote on a commissioner to
represent ANC 4C on the AFRH Planning Committee.
In the meantime, your literature will be
misrepresenting Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4C if
it suggests Mr. Jones is on the Planning Committee
representing ANC 4C.
On a final note, I want to register my great
disappointment with the fact that the Planning
Committee has no representation whatsoever from
neighborhood organizations from the Park View and
Petworth neighborhoods, such as the United
Neighborhood Coalition or the Petworth Action
Committee.
