I heard of a Harris Teeter coming to Adams Morgan at 17th and Kalorama. Nothing yet about Georgia Ave. It would be nice though.

I've been told that some property owners in that block and elsewhere in Petworth (Upshur St, Georgia Ave) are sitting on their commercial property, or asking prices that are unrealistic. I know a few people who really want to buy but are frustrated.
I think the row of storefronts on the 200 blk of Upshur (closest to the corner of 3rd, next to the little store) has great potential for synergy. Georgia Ave is not that walkable from up there - with a little vision that strip could become a nice mini-main street that would serve the community well.

In addition to the large parcels on Georgia Ave. there are a number of smaller spots across Petworth screaming for attention. For example, the 200 block of Upshur has several abandoned storefronts despite the fact the folks in the surrounding neighborhood would love to support some small businesses there.

If developers won't be selected intil Spring 2006, I imagine our new shops are a long ways off... I've heard rumors of a new Harris Teeter to be built somewhere along Georgia Ave. Does anyone have any more information on that?
