[from Andrew McGilvray]
It's now official -- this year's Georgia-Petworth Farmers' Market will be held every Saturday from June 4 through November 26! Our location is the fenced-in lot at the southwest corner of the Georgia & New Hampshire Aves. intersection (just south of the Metro). But THE MARKET NEEDS YOUR HELP!
For the market to succeed, it needs a growing customer base. So please help, just once, by spreading the word about the market ON YOUR BLOCK. Go to:
http://www.geocities.com/ga_ave_market/
and check to see if we already have a volunteer to handle your block. If your block is "unassigned," please send us an e-mail at:
to volunteer to distribute flyers on your block. The flyers need to be distributed between now and June 3 (more complete instructions are on the web site referenced above).
Thanks in advance for your support!
The Georgia-Petworth Farmers' Market Team
Let's HOPE that the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program voucher program still exists! Many seniors brought the five-dollar vouchers to the market last year. However, the voucher program is not run by our local farmers' market. I believe that there are a variety of governmental and non-profit or health sector organizations that distribute the vouchers. If someone you know received vouchers last year, he/she should look to the same source for them this year...

Last year coupons were distributed for senior citizens on fixed incomes so that they might get fresh produce from the Farmers Market. Will that happen again this year?
