A public charter school may be coming to the 200 block of Upshur Street. Organizers say the Bilingual Community Academy will open in fall 2005 with 150 sixth graders, eventually becoming a full middle school with grades 6-8. According to their brochure, obtained at last night's ANC 4C meeting, the Academy will be a dual-language (English-Spanish) program open to all DC residents.
The school is planned for an empty lot at 209 Upshur Street, with a sizable setback from the sidewalk (click to enlarge photo).

Bill and to everyone else at last night's ANC meeting - thank you for allowing us to introduce ourselves and our school to you and the community. We plan on being a great neighbor and a part of the Upshur Street renaisance. If anyone would like to learn more about the school and our plans please feel free to contact me at 202-822-6301 or [email protected] Thanks again.
