[from Adam Wasch]
I spoke to the National Park Service about Grant Circle. They said they replanted trees today, expect a significant clean-up within the week, and are in the process of getting the lights back on in the park at night (a car accident took out a wiring node several months ago). Anyway, the Captain (Commander?) responsible for the park is Don Kirk. He can be reached at 202-895-6060. He said any reports of vandalism or criminal activity should be reported to the NPS at 202-426-7716. The park is known as area 312. In the meantime, he said calls from the community to Pepco might get them to speed the rewiring process.
Adam.
I am a Petworth resident running in the Mardi Gras AIDS Marathon on February 27, 2005. The National AIDS Marathon Training Program raises money for the Whitman-Walker Clinic, the leading provider of AIDS services in the Metropolitan Washington, DC area. The Whitman-Walker Clinic provides advanced drug therapies, medical care and other important services to help keep people alive until there's a cure. This is why I am committed to raise at least $3,000 before November 25, although I would like to raise even more. I'm asking for your help. Any donation you can make to help me meet my goal would be most appreciated! You can visit the Training Program's Web site at www.aidsmarathon.com Runner # DC-6517 to make a donation on my behalf. Every donation is fully tax-deductible.
Please help me reach my goal and help thousands of people living with HIV/AIDS.
My sincerest thanks,
Deborah Parker
