Today [5/22] Mayor Fenty, Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser, Donatelli Development and other officials celebrated the 'topping out' of the Park Place project at Georgia and New Hampshire Avenues. "Topping out" means the concrete superstructure of a building is finished.

A lot of credit has to be given to Fenty, who helped push the project when he was Ward 4 Councilmember, and to Chris Donatelli for his vision in bringing such a quality community-oriented project to that spot.

During the event, right across the street to the east, work continued to narrow and reshape the intersection to make it more pedestrian-friendly. An interesting announcement from Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham was that CVS has signed a letter of intent to build a two-story building on the triangular lot on the south corner of the intersection, where the farmers market used to be held.
